Warli Drawing Advance Course: Age-6yrs+


Warli drawing is a traditional form of tribal art from the Warli tribe, primarily found in the Maharashtra and Gujarat regions of India. It is characterized by its simple, geometric patterns and motifs, often depicting daily life, nature, and animals This beginner-friendly course is specifically designed to introduce the students to the captivating world of Warli art.


Throughout the course, you'll explore the following key topics:

  1. Introduction to Warli Art

    • Students will gain an understanding of the origins and cultural significance of Warli art, including its connection to the Warli tribe and their way of life.

  2. Basic Shapes

    • Students will learn how to create the fundamental geometric shapes used in Warli art—such as circles, triangles, and squares—that form the foundation of the artwork.

  3. Border Designs

    • Students will discover how to design traditional Warli borders, adding intricate patterns and frames that complement the main artwork.

  4. Plants, Animals, and Birds

    • Students will master how to illustrate natural elements like trees, animals, and birds, which are commonly featured in Warli paintings to show harmony with nature.

  5. Human Figures

    • Students will learn how to depict human figures in Warli style, typically using stick-like forms, with an emphasis on their connection to the natural world and everyday activities.

  6. Type of Warli Huts

    • Students will learn how to draw different types of Warli huts.

  7. Warli Tarpa dance

    • Students will learn how to create the Warli Tarpa Dance, a traditional depiction of the lively dance form, using the signature geometric patterns and simple figures of Warli art.

  8. Warli Wedding Cermony

    • Students will learn how to depict a Warli wedding ceremony, capturing the traditional rituals and celebrations through the unique geometric patterns and figures of Warli art.

  9. Warli Composition

    • Students will understand how to combine all the elements —shapes, figures, and natural motifs—into a cohesive composition that tells a visual story.


By the end of this course, students will have the skills to create their own Warli art pieces, combining traditional techniques and motifs to craft unique designs.


 

Estimated Duration: 16 sessions, with each session lasting 1 hour.

Class Frequency: 1 class per week.

Total Classes per Month: 4 classes.


All necessary materials for the class will be provided during the sessions.


 

Course Highlights:

  • Students will receive practice worksheets to guide their learning.

  • All necessary materials for the class will be provided during the session.

  • Homework assignments will be given and reviewed in the following class to assess progress. (For home practice, students may need to use their own supplies.)

  • Upon completion of the course, students will receive a certificate.
